Women for McAuliffe
About Women for McAuliffe
Women for McAuliffe (WFM) was formed as a collaborative effort to bring together the ideas and perspectives of women from around Virginia to support Terry McAuliffe as our next Governor. Spearheaded by Dorothy McAuliffe, Terry’s wife of over 20 years, WFM has been bringing women together to talk about the issues that matter most in our communities and to find ways to work together to address them.
Launched on March 1st, in honor of Women’s History Month, WFM was built on an understanding of the integral and leading role that women play in homes, schools, neighborhoods, places of work, and places of worship - the heart of our Commonwealth. This understanding is nothing new to Terry McAuliffe. One of the biggest influences in his own life and career has been his mother, Millie. She not only taught Terry the hard work and optimism that define him as a person and a professional, she was the literal “driving” force behind the first company he started at age 14 – well before he could drive himself to job locations. The roles that women have played in Terry’s life have had an undeniable impact on his work. Throughout his career, Terry has been a longstanding advocate for the empowerment of women in the democratic process and the Democratic Party. One of the examples of his commitment to women voters was the establishment of the Women’s Vote Center which has led to an unprecedented outreach and mobilization effort to engage women across the country.
Here in Virginia, Dorothy and women leaders from every corner of the Commonwealth have begun to gather and build support for Terry, one woman at a time. Over the past month, WFM organized a series of activities to cultivate a statewide discussion on how women can best inform and support Terry’s candidacy. Here are some ways you too can be involved!

These calls are also an opportunity to hear what is happening around Virginia from women who live in the various regions of the Commonwealth.
“Tea for Terry” Events
"Tea for Terry" events are an intimate social networking opportunity for women to gather and learn about the campaign and how they can organize and get involved in efforts in their region. They also serve as opportunities to talk about issues in their respective regions and make suggestions on how the campaign can address them.
Phone Bank Potlucks
Voter contact is essential to any campaign, and phone banking is one of the most productive tools. WFM has developed a series of Phone Bank Potlucks to bring women into our regional offices to make calls and talk to women across the Commonwealth about Terry and his plan for moving Virginia forward. We also see the Phone Bank Potlucks as an opportunity for women to network with other women in their regions and build relationships within our offices.
Women for McAuliffe Facebook Group
Facebook is one of the most innovative tools for social networking and community-building. WFM has created a Facebook Group to enhance the outreach and engagement of women supporting Terry’s candidacy. The page offers updates on WFM activities and events and a space for women to exchange ideas and opinions on how we can work together to elect Terry as our next Governor.
